Proposed Critical Plant Habitat in Kentucky (Short’s Bladderpod)
POSTED BYJosiah Frey
The USFWS is soliciting comment for critical habitat designation of the Short’s bladderpod plant in Kentucky. Three central Kentucky counties – Clark, Franklin, and Woodford- have land being considered for critical habitat designation (http://www.fws.gov/news/ShowNews.cfm?ID=43DFBC85-DDAA-48AF-E7A5829F4F29C9A6). It appears USFWS is in the home stretch before officially listing this plant as an endangered species.
If you have projects in Anderson, Bourbon, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Powell, Scott or Woodford counties in Kentucky be aware that this plant may be officially designated as endangered soon. Land plots identified as Units 14-19 are areas being designated in Kentucky, mostly along streams and rivers (http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-08-02/pdf/2013-18456.pdf). These areas were proposed last year and have been reopened for public comment until June 30th. If you have any questions, please contact Josiah Frey at SMG.
